Why, hello there...

A blind date once told me she had Googled me ahead of time but didn't find much of anything. So I made this website to facilitate decision-making. [Please see also this array of carefully selected photos of me looking dashing while doing fun, sporty activities that I hope will endear you to me and foster affection.] Of course, to this day, that's still the only truly blind date I've ever been on, but at least now I'm ready for any others that might take place.

  • I went to Whitman College; where I studied Economics, French, Multimedia Communications, and Zombie Combat.
  • Hobbies include writing, sailing, kayaking, sledding, exploration, making things, light construction and Photoshop.
  • I work with an Architecture firm, and run a very small business doing freelance drafting, technical writing, webdesign, photography and graphic art. In summer, I run a youth sailing program and occasionally teach.
  • I do a lot of volunteer work.
  • I plan to tell people "I'm not sure what I want to be when I grow up" well into my 40s.
  • I have a runner's build but don't have runners' knees.
  • My first kayak had running lights and a CD player.
  • My family is very small, and of northern European extraction. I get the jokes on 'A Prairie Home Companion' quite well.
  • My computer is a Mac (and I felt the need to share that with you).
  • I get most of my news from the BBC, NPR, and Reddit.
  • I give money to Wikipedia now and then.
  • I floss every day.
  • I'm not particularly religious.
  • I can cook (depending on who you ask).
  • I've eaten salmon caught by Sandra Day O'Connor.
  • I have good reflexes.
  • I've donated artifacts to a museum.
  • I'm a member of the American Mustache Institute.
  • I drive stick.
  • My Kevin Bacon Number is 2.
  • I'm really good in emergencies.
  • I've died on film.
  • I can tear a phonebook in half.
  • I still have all my teddy bears.
  • There is an asteroid named after me.
  • I'm on Wikipedia (because of the Asteroid).
